Champoeg
State Heritage Area. 503-678-1251.Called the "Birthplace of
Oregon," Champoeg was once a bustling riverside town where settlers
and trappers gathered to form a provisional government in 1843. The
town site was destroyed in a series of devastating floods more than
a century ago, but Oregon history lives on through the preserved buildings,
historical sites and interpretive displays throughout the park, as well
as the Champoeg Visitor Center. The park also boasts hiking and biking
trails, tent and trailer camping, picnicking and an outdoor amphitheater.

Silver
Falls State Park. 503-873-8681. Oregon's largest state park boasts
no less than 10 dazzling waterfalls that cascade down
Silver
Creek Canyon. Hike the 7-mile "Trail of Ten Falls" through
Douglas Fir and Western Hemlock stands, or visit historic South Falls
Lodge, with exhibits on park history. Log cabins are available for receptions
and picnics; there are also picnic areas, equestrian facilities and
a campground. Woodburn
Memorial
Aquatic Center. 503-982-5288. This year-round, all-ages facility
features a competition-sized swimming pool complete with a 50-foot water
slide and rope swing, plus a shallow wading pool for children. For adults,
there's a 102-degree therapeutic spa on deck. Certified instructors
offer swimming lessons and water fitness programs for children and adults.
OGA
Members Course at Tukwila. 503-981-6105. Nestled in a rustic filbert
orchard, Tukwila is an 18-hole public golf course with driving range
and restaurant owned and operated by the Oregon Golf Association. The
course is a 6,650-yard, par-72 course designed by renowned golf course
architect Bill Robinson.
Senior
Estates Golf and Country Club. 503-982-1776. Active seniors will
enjoy this private golf and country club, the centerpiece of Woodburn's
retirement community. Senior Estates boasts its own 18-hole golf course,
pro shop, indoor swimming pool, spa, exercise facilities, pool room,
restaurant and more, plus a full slate of social activities. Associate
golf and club memberships available.
Oregon
Garden. 877-674-2733. Visit this world-class public display garden
and botanical complex in Silverton. Green thumb or not, you'll marvel
at the beauty of the garden's spectacular floral displays, from formal
gardens to completely natural meadows, wetlands and forests. Open seven
days a week, with many special events, classes and concerts throughout
the year.
West
Woodburn Golf Course. You don't have to golf like a pro to enjoy
a good round of golf at Woodburn's infamous 9-hole regulation golf course,
affectionately dubbed the "sand greens" by locals. Located
off Highway 219 two miles west of Woodburn. No reservations required.
Settlemier
Park. Located next to Woodburn Memorial Aquatic Center, the park
features lighted tennis courts, lighted softball diamonds, a playground,
restrooms and picnic shelters. Settlemier Avenue at Oak Street.
Legion
Park. Features a football stadium, soccer fields, softball and baseball
fields, group picnic areas and a playground. The part also includes
facilities for festivals, and is home to the Woodburn Mexican Fiesta
every August. Located on Park Avenue at James Street.
Centennial
Park. Features soccer fields, softball and baseball fields, playgrounds,
picnic areas and more. Located next to Heritage Middle School on Parr
Road.
